The Denmark goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has called it "a shame" that players cannot tell fans what they do "without revealing tactics".

A DBU spokesman Lars Behrendt said on Tuesday that the coach Morten Olsen wants players to focus on the tournament and for "the 24-7 open microphone" to be shut down.

Behrendt said the squad will send numerous updates to fans via the team's own social media sites beside the regular press conferences.

The sports minister Uffe Elbaek said it was the DBU's decision but noted that his first thought was that it may be "a violation of the freedom of speech".
