Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has been named Barclays Manager of the Season following a sensational Premier League campaign which has seen his side defy expectations.Former West Ham manager has been heralded for helping the Magpies to launch an unlikely top-four challenge after building on the club's best start to a league campaign in 17 years.
The Magpies head into the final game of the season with a top-four finish and Champions League qualification still possible.
Pardew's appointment as Newcastle manager in December 2010 was met with scepticism by many of the club's supporters, having seen Chris Hughton sacked despite winning promotion the previous season.
But, after steering the Tyneside club to safety last season, the former Southampton boss has sought to push them onwards this term, bringing in a number of successful signings including Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba.
The team quickly gelled under his guidance, which resulted in their best start to a Premier League campaign in 17 years, before the January purchase of Papiss Cisse helped the Magpies cement their position in the upper echelons of the table.
Newcastle currently lie fifth in the Premier League standings and could finish as high as third if results go their way the last day of the season.
